Senior year only happens once, and your senior photos should feel like you. Some girls know exactly what they want to wear for this milestone, while others need a little inspiration — and that’s completely normal. The good news? It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Think of this as a guide, not a rulebook. The best outfits are the ones that make you feel confident, comfortable, and like yourself. Whether your style is trendy, casual, dressy, sporty, or somewhere in between, the goal is to choose outfits that feel authentic to you.
LONG FLOWY DRESS
A long, flowy dress adds natural movement and creates soft, timeless images. It works especially well at beaches, fields, gardens, and golden-hour sessions where the fabric can catch light and motion beautifully.
FUN SHORT DRESS
A short dress or trendy outfit brings energy and personality to your gallery. This is usually the outfit that feels the most playful, modern, and confident in photos.
Feels like me 'fit
Your senior session should still feel like you. Bring an outfit that reflects your everyday style and personality — something you feel genuinely comfortable and confident wearing.
Think: Favorite jeans, boots, sneakers, cozy sweater, flannel shirt or casual layered look.
Prop, Maybe?
If sports, dance, music, theater, or another activity has been a huge part of your high school experience, consider bringing something meaningful to incorporate into your session.
Varsity jerseys, letter jackets, dance shoes, instruments, college gear, flowers, books, or even your car can add personality and tell your story in a way that feels natural.
QUICK TIPS
Hair & Makeup Tips for Senior Photos
- Stay true to your everyday look. Senior photos should still feel like you — avoid trying a dramatically different hairstyle or heavy makeup for the first time right before your session.
- Slightly elevate your normal makeup. Makeup tends to photograph softer, so a little extra definition (especially mascara, blush, and lip color) can photograph beautifully while still looking natural.
- Consider professional hair and makeup. It’s not necessary, but many seniors love the confidence boost and polished look it gives in photos.
- Fresh hair beats a fresh haircut. Avoid major hair changes right before your session. If you’re getting a trim or color, aim for about 1–2 weeks before photos.
- Think about the weather. New England humidity, wind, and summer heat can happen — soft waves, texture, or styles that move naturally tend to photograph well.
What to Bring to Your Senior Session
- A few outfit options (with shoes and accessories!)
- A brush or comb for quick touch-ups
- Lip gloss/lipstick and powder for quick makeup refreshes
- Hair ties, bobby pins, or clips just in case
- Water and a quick snack (especially for longer sessions)
- Comfortable shoes if we’re walking between locations
- Props that feel meaningful to you — sports gear, dance shoes, musical instruments, college gear, your car, cap & gown, or even your dog!
OUTFIT TIPS
- Bring options! If you’re torn between outfits, bring a few favorites and we can narrow them down together. Sometimes seeing pieces in the location lighting makes the decision easier.
- Keep distractions to a minimum. Try to avoid overly busy patterns, giant logos, neon colors, Apple Watches, hair ties on your wrist, or anything that feels uncomfortable or needs constant adjusting. You want the focus to be you.
- Soft, neutral tones photograph beautifully. Earth tones, soft colors, and timeless pieces tend to complement natural light and New England scenery especially well.
- Layers and texture add dimension. Sweaters, denim, linen, cozy knits, and layered pieces photograph especially beautifully during New England fall sessions.
- Confidence is key. Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself — that always photographs best.
